I am passionate about helping clients create a life they love. With mindfulness-based techniques, my clients experience increased confidence to live according to their values and cope more effectively with all the emotions that come with living a full and meaningful life.

When working with clients, it is a priority to explore my client's value system to better understand the components that ground them and motivate their behavior. In addition to being foundational for goal-setting, knowing our core values empowers us to set healthy boundaries, persevere through change, and find peace and equanimity in our daily lives. My clients often experience a big emotions due to transitional life events, past traumas, or even biology. While emotions are important, they don't have to control our lives. I love helping clients learn that they can loosen the hold of painful cognitive narratives and compulsive behaviors without numbing the emotions that feel central to their experience.

I have worked effectively with clients with anxiety, BPD, OCD, bipolar, past trauma, and grief. I have also worked effectively with clients going through life transitions. For example: young adults transitioning to independence, career and relationship changes, etc.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): a therapeutic approach that aims to increase
client’s awareness and ability to be present while accepting external conditions and making meaningful commitments to behavioral change.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): A subset of CBT that emphasizes a skills-based approach to personal development and tools for controlling one’s emotional responses to stimulus.

Art Therapy: This therapeutic approach stimulates the mind and body in a more encompassing manner than exclusively verbal therapies. Visual and symbolic expressions empower clients to foster emotional well-being and therapeutic breakthroughs.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): a meditation-based therapeutic program
designed to treat anxiety, depression, stress and pain by training one’s mind to build awareness of one’s body, thoughts, behaviors by focusing intensely on the present.

Community & Identity Statement

As a black female therapist, I am passionate about making space for my client's unique cultural experiences in therapy. I believe a client should have the opportunity to explore how their racial/ethnic/sexual/gender/faith identity informs their experience of the world and their mental health.
